Highlights:
- Millionaire whales increased stablecoin inflows to Binance by more than 40% in just over one month.
- Thirty-day stablecoin inflows rose from $21.7 billion to $30.5 billion as larger investors returned cautiously.
- Rising exchange deposits may signal buying interest, though current whale activity remains below previous peaks.
Millionaire crypto whales are moving more stablecoins onto Binance, potentially building fresh buying power for Bitcoin. CryptoQuant contributor Darkfost said these inflows have jumped by more than 40% in just over a month.
Darkfost shared the data on October 2, citing CryptoQuant figures that track whales sending more than $1 million in stablecoins to Binance. Over 30 days, total inflows rose from $21.7 billion to $30.5 billion. The rise comes as Bitcoin trades around $84,800. While sending stablecoins to an exchange does not guarantee immediate buying, traders often move these assets onto exchanges before opening new market positions.

Whale Stablecoin Inflows Rise to $30.5 Billion
Darkfost said millionaire whales have gradually started putting more capital back into the market after a quieter period. “On a 30d sum basis, their stablecoin inflows to Binance have risen from $21.7B to $30.5B in a little over a month,” the analyst said.
That represents an increase of more than 40%. Stablecoins such as USDT and USDC are commonly used as trading capital on crypto exchanges. As a result, rising stablecoin deposits can indicate how much liquidity larger investors have available for potential Bitcoin or other crypto purchases.
However, the current activity remains well below previous highs. Darkfost noted that millionaire whale inflows exceeded $61 billion during the October peak before falling sharply. During that quieter period, whales still reacted to some market rebounds. According to the analyst, those moves appeared linked to short-term technical bounces or attempts to buy Bitcoin during price declines.
Their recent behavior looks more cautious. Darkfost said whales are increasing liquidity deployment while Bitcoin confirms what he described as a structural trend reversal. At the same time, investors are facing broader risks, including geopolitical conflict, inflation and rising bond yields.
Stablecoin Demand Draws Wider Market Attention
The increase in whale inflows also comes as Bitwise Chief Investment Officer Matt Hougan points to growing demand across the broader stablecoin market.
In an October 1 post, Hougan highlighted research shared by the Federal Reserve Bank of San Francisco showing that stablecoin issuers’ U.S. Treasury holdings have grown by more than $200 billion over five years. Hougan said the Federal Reserve research was now citing stablecoin demand as helping offset declining Treasury holdings from China.
“The entire stablecoin ecosystem is going much, much higher,” Hougan wrote. His comments focus on the wider expansion of stablecoins rather than Binance whale flows specifically. Still, both developments show increasing attention to stablecoin liquidity and its role across crypto and traditional financial markets.
The Fed is citing stablecoin demand as an offset for China selling Treasuries.

Bitcoin Losses Help Explain Whale Caution
Darkfost also pointed to the heavy losses seen during Bitcoin’s recent bear market. In an October 1 post, he said about 87% of the money invested in Bitcoin was underwater at one point. That was more than $930 billion against a market cap of roughly $1.07 trillion. He added that Bitcoin’s 52% drop may look smaller than some past bear markets. However, the losses were much heavier when measured by the amount of money sitting in the red.
