Robinhood Launches UK Crypto Trading with 50 Assets and Zero Trading Fees

Highlights:

  • Robinhood has opened UK crypto trading with access to more than 50 digital assets.
  • Crypto trading carries zero trading, custody, and account maintenance fees.
  • Bitstamp UK handles trading as the company grows its digital asset services.

Robinhood has started rolling out cryptocurrency trading to eligible UK customers through its main investing application. The service gives users access to more than 50 digital assets through Bitstamp UK Ltd. Customers can now manage crypto alongside stocks, ISAs, options, and futures within one account.

Robinhood Adds Crypto Trading Across its UK App

According to the announcement on Monday, the service includes Bitcoin, Ethereum, XRP, and Hyperliquid among its digital assets. The company says customers will pay no trading, account maintenance, or custody fees for crypto transactions. However, users still face a 0.1% foreign exchange fee on currency conversions. That charge can rise to 0.3% for weekend conversions.

Crypto trading runs through Bitstamp UK Ltd, an FCA-registered cryptoasset service provider. The structure lets customers access digital assets without leaving the UK application. Additionally, the company says the product supports its plan for an all-in-one investment platform. The rollout starts with eligible customers before reaching more UK users.

The UK President and GM of Bitstamp UK Ltd., Jordan Sinclair, noted that UK investors increasingly view digital assets as part of diversified portfolios. According to him, the launch marks another step toward a broader platform for local users. Robinhood acquired Bitstamp for $200 million last year, adding crypto infrastructure to its operations.

New Crypto Tools Add More Market Context

Alongside trading, the company has introduced Cortex Digests for Crypto to UK customers. The feature uses generative AI to review news, market data, technical indicators, and internal research. It then explains major factors behind price movements across crypto assets in simpler language. Moreover, the company says the tool gives investors clearer market context during volatile sessions.

The launch also extends the firm’s digital asset ecosystem beyond buying and selling. Meanwhile, UK developers can build applications on Robinhood Chain, an Arbitrum-based Layer 2 network. The company describes the blockchain as a development environment for institutional activity and onchain applications. Since July 1, the network has recorded more than $18 billion in decentralized exchange volume.

Moreover, the company says total value locked on the network has surpassed $840 million. Those figures give the UK rollout a wider role within its digital asset strategy. The brokerage now links trading, market analysis, and blockchain development across several crypto products.

FCA Registration Clears the Route for Trading

The UK rollout follows a regulatory step the company completed shortly before trading started. The company’s local subsidiary joined the FCA register of cryptoasset firms on July 31. Under current rules, firms must meet anti-money laundering requirements before offering covered crypto services.

However, the UK is also preparing another authorization system for the crypto sector. Applications under the incoming framework should open near the end of September. The window should remain open until February 2027. Meanwhile, regulators plan to start the broader regime in October 2027.

Separately, Robinhood is preparing more crypto features for customers in the United States. On July 11, the exchange said that users will soon be able to access third-party AI agents for cryptocurrency trading. Those users will manage funds through Agentic Accounts with performance tracking and trade notifications. The company also added that customers will remain responsible for trades placed through connected AI agents.
