Changpeng Zhao Backs Crypto in Kyrgyzstan’s Digital Strategy

Binance co-founder Changpeng Zhao visited Kyrgyzstan on a two-day visit to promote blockchain innovation. He met President Sadyr Japarov and other officials, where blockchain advancement and internal investment growth were the subjects of discussion.

In his posts on X (formerly Twitter), Zhao lauded the digital development of Kyrgyzstan. He stated that the trip was productive and promising for the growth of crypto. Binance hosted a community event in Bishkek, where more than 1,000 people attended.

CZ revealed in his post that Kyrgyzstan launched a national stablecoin on the BNB Chain. The country also finalized its Central Bank Digital Currency (CBDC) for government payments. These milestones imply strong state engagement in blockchain in society.

Zhao disclosed that Binance Coin (BNB) is part of a national cryptocurrency reserve. He also introduced Sign, a tech company currently operating in Kyrgyzstan. Moreover, YZILabs became a minority investor in the project by investing in long-term strategic value.

The founder of Binance highlighted the importance of crypto in finance and governance. He urged more firms to consider the Kyrgyzstan digital economy. Zhao noted that future global leaders will be characterized by early adoption of virtual assets.

Regulatory Reforms Fuel Blockchain Expansion

In early September, the parliament of Kyrgyzstan approved a bill on “Virtual Assets.” This regulation establishes the role of regulators in virtual asset service providers. It also sets guidelines on the registration of miners and equipment requirements.

The nation has currently initiated innovation testing utilizing regulatory sandboxes. The government also established the National Council on the Development of Virtual Assets. The Council is in favor of a national approach to blockchain integration.

Farhat Iminov, head of the Secretariat, confirmed the mission of the Council, highlighting that it seeks to establish a legal and institutional framework for virtual assets. Changpeng Zhao and the regional head of Binance, Kirill Khomyakov, are now part of the council.

Iminov further added that,

“the inclusion of leading global personalities will play a major role in enhancing the expertise of the Council.”

Crypto Education and National Integration

The exchange localized its application in Kyrgyzstan and also collaborated with ten universities through the Binance Academy program. Moreover, training programs on law enforcement are being initiated as part of the Binance collaboration.

Zhao highlighted the significance of youth financial literacy in adopting cryptocurrencies. He noted that countries mastering digital finance will have an advantage. AI and blockchain would also help improve tax systems and public administration.

In April 2025, Zhao signed a memorandum with Kyrgyzstan, which established the basis of collaboration in blockchain infrastructure and support. Zhao, this year, resumed the global engagement after resolving the legal matters in the U.S.

During his trip to Kyrgyzstan, Zhao expressed gratitude for his pardon in the U.S. by President Donald Trump. He pledged to help make America the capital of crypto. Changpeng Zhao is backing crypto not only as a financial tool but also as a tool for transforming world governance. His role in Kyrgyzstan signifies the growing trend of state-led blockchain adoption.
