Trade.xyz, a decentralized trading protocol built on the Hyperliquid network, has started sending USDC compensation to traders affected by the SK Hynix pricing incident, which triggered about $60 million in leveraged liquidations. The platform began processing repayments on August 1 after completing its review of the July 27 market disruption.

Each eligible liquidation was measured against a reference price of $1,115.5. Where the resulting amount is under 10,000 USDC, wallets have been credited in full, and no action is needed.

Trade.xyz said it issued the compensation as a one-time discretionary decision because its investigation found that the pricing system operated according to design. The company also said the repayments apply only to this incident and do not create a policy for future trading losses.
Trade.xyz calculated every payout using a reference price of $1,115.50. Traders whose verified losses remained below $10,000 qualified for automatic compensation. Meanwhile, traders with larger losses must complete additional reviews before receiving the remaining funds. Trade.xyz has not disclosed the total USDC compensation amount or the number of traders who have received payments since the process began.
Trade.xyz released its incident report on July 29 before launching the repayments on August 1. The company said it started reviewing its pricing framework after the event exposed weaknesses during extreme market conditions. As a result, Trade.xyz plans to improve how its pricing system responds when thinly traded external markets generate sudden price swings.
How a Single Trade Triggered the SK Hynix Liquidation
A single SK Hynix trade during South Korea’s NextTrade pre-market session triggered the pricing disruption that spread into Trade.xyz’s perpetual market. One share traded at 1,272,000 won, or about $868. That price stood nearly 30% below the previous closing level. Although the transaction complied with NextTrade’s trading rules, buyers quickly pushed the stock close to 1.7 million won within minutes.

Galaxy Research analyst Will Owens said several independent market data providers recorded the same transaction. Therefore, Trade.xyz’s oracle accepted the price because every provider confirmed the execution. The Trade.xyz SK Hynix perpetual contract tracks the dollar value of one SK Hynix share after NextTrade opens.
Trade.xyz applied a smoothing model that reduced about 11% of the price movement. However, the mark price still fell from $1,127.90 to $917.25, or about 18.7%, within seconds. That decline triggered automatic liquidations across leveraged long positions. Open interest also dropped from about $481 million to $331 million within minutes.
Galaxy Research estimated that roughly 960 accounts lost between $57 million and $80 million. Meanwhile, the liquidation engine automatically deleveraged profitable short positions to stabilize the market. It also transferred about 406 liquidated long positions to a backstop address after exhausting available counterparties.
Trade.xyz Plans Pricing Changes
Galaxy Research said the SK Hynix perpetual ranked as Hyperliquid’s largest builder-deployed market and held about $638 million in open interest on July 30. Trade.xyz also represented more than 90% of HIP-3 builder market open interest and nearly 98% of builder market trading volume.
Trade.xyz now plans to give greater weight to its onchain order book during volatile market conditions. The company also plans to reduce its reliance on external price feeds when isolated trades distort prices. Those planned changes aim to strengthen pricing for tokenized stock perpetuals that rely on traditional market data.
