Highlights:
- SK Hynix Price dropped sharply after a single pre-market trade, which triggered liquidations across the perpetual market.
- Trade.xyz will compensate eligible traders, but it still needs to explain who qualifies and how payments will work.
- The company now wants to improve its pricing model to better handle extreme market moves in the future.
Trade.xyz will reimburse eligible traders after the SKHYNIX perpetual contract’s mark price fell from $1,127.90 to $917.25 and triggered forced liquidations on Hyperliquid. The company announced the reimbursement after the contract’s mark price dropped 18.7% at 23:01 UTC on July 27. Hyperliquid uses the mark price to calculate margins and liquidations, which forced leveraged long positions to close immediately.

Trade.xyz described the reimbursement as a one-time discretionary decision instead of a policy for future market disruptions. The company said an executed trade from an external market triggered the liquidations, which led to the compensation decision. Trade.xyz will publish the eligibility requirements soon and expects to distribute payments within the coming days.
However, Trade.xyz has not disclosed how many traders qualify for compensation or the total reimbursement amount. The company also has not explained whether affected traders will receive automatic payments or submit compensation claims. It will include those details in its upcoming eligibility announcement.
Meanwhile, Hyperliquid said Trade.xyz independently deploys and operates the SKHYNIX perpetual market under the HIP-3 framework. Under that framework, Trade.xyz controls the oracle and pricing inputs while Hyperliquid provides the order book, margin engine, and liquidation infrastructure.

How the SK Hynix Price Moved Within Minutes
A single executed SK Hynix share trade on South Korea’s NextTrade pre-market triggered the price anomaly that reached the perpetual market. One SK Hynix share traded at 1.272 million won when NextTrade opened on July 28. That executed trade stood almost 30% below the previous closing price of 1.816 million won and immediately reached the market’s daily lower price limit.
Buy orders entered within about two minutes and lifted the share price back toward 1.7 million won after the isolated trade. However, multiple independent data providers relayed the executed trade to Trade.xyz’s oracle, which updated the perpetual market. The oracle converts the Korean won share price into a US dollar value because the perpetual contract tracks the dollar value of one SK Hynix share.
Trade.xyz said the oracle followed its published specification because it accurately tracked the executed trade from the external market. The company said the executed trade came from NextTrade, which serves as its primary South Korean pre-market reference. Trade.xyz also said it found no evidence of a blockchain failure, smart contract exploit, or market manipulation.
Hyperliquid uses the mark price to calculate margins and determine when leveraged positions should close. Therefore, the temporary mark-price collapse triggered margin calculations that liquidated leveraged long positions across the SKHYNIX market. On-chain tracker Lookonchain estimated that more than $80 million in SKHX positions were liquidated, although Trade.xyz has not confirmed that figure.
An abnormal order briefly pushed $SKHX below $930, triggering more than $80M in $SKHX liquidations.

Trade.xyz Plans Changes to Its Oracle Framework
Trade.xyz will review how external market prices enter its oracle after the SKHYNIX liquidation event exposed risks during thin trading. The company plans to give greater weight to prices formed on its own order books because they now provide deeper liquidity during volatile markets. Trade.xyz said its order books now provide enough liquidity and market depth to play a larger role in future price formation.
Trade.xyz said the review will focus on improving price formation during extreme market events instead of changing the platform’s core market structure. The company has generated more than $22 billion of HIP-3’s first $25 billion in cumulative trading volume since the framework launched. The company later launched an officially licensed S&P 500 perpetual using S&P Dow Jones Indices market data. Trade.xyz will next publish its eligibility criteria, begin compensation payments, and release details about planned oracle improvements.
