MSTR Share Sales Fund the Latest Bitcoin Purchase
Strategy funded the new Bitcoin purchase with proceeds from sales of its Class A common stock, MSTR. During the September 21 to September 27 period, the company sold 1,469,165 MSTR shares through its at-the-market offering program. Those sales generated $246.2 million in net proceeds. Of that amount, $142.7 million went toward the 1,665 BTC purchase. Another $103.5 million was used to repurchase STRC preferred stock.
The filing shows Strategy bought back 1,534,530 STRC shares for $151.7 million. STRC is the company’s Variable Rate Series A Perpetual Stretch Preferred Stock. Strategy funded the repurchases with $103.5 million from MSTR stock sales and another $48.1 million from its USD Cash balance.
Strategy Reports $6.02 Billion in USD Assets
Alongside its Bitcoin holdings, Strategy reported $6.02 billion in U.S. dollar assets as of September 27. That included a $5.02 billion USD Reserve and $1.00 billion in USD Cash. The USD Reserve supports preferred stock dividend payments and interest on outstanding debt.
During the week, Strategy used $22.1 million from the reserve to pay preferred stock dividends. Its separate USD Cash balance can be used for Bitcoin purchases, reserve expansion and other treasury purposes. Strategy also said $723.5 million remains available under its preferred stock repurchase program. Another $1 billion remains authorized under its MSTR stock repurchase program.
