Samsung Integrates Coinbase for Easy Crypto Access in Galaxy Wallet

Samsung has announced a partnership with Coinbase to offer cryptocurrency services to its 75 million Galaxy users in the United States. Through this collaboration, users will be able to purchase crypto directly within Samsung Pay. This initiative gives them convenient access to manage their investments and funds on the platform. The move is seen as a significant step toward increasing mainstream adoption of cryptocurrencies.

Galaxy Users Get Special Coinbase One Benefits

Coinbase also announced its partnership with Samsung and said that U.S. Galaxy users will receive exclusive access to Coinbase One. This service offers no trading fees, staking rewards, and additional perks. The subscription normally costs $4.99 per month for the basic plan and $29.99 per month for the premium tier. 

The exchange emphasized the importance of this move for crypto adoption. The two companies plan to expand access to more Galaxy smartphone users worldwide. With over one billion active Galaxy users, this could bring a large wave of new mainstream investors into the crypto market.

“Together with Samsung, we’re pairing their global scale with Coinbase’s trusted platform to deliver the best value for people to access crypto — starting with more than 75 million Galaxy users across the U.S., and soon around the world,” said Shan Aggarwal, chief business officer at Coinbase. As of September, Samsung held about 13% of the world’s 7.4 billion smartphone users, according to BankMyCell.

Drew Blackard, Senior Vice President of Mobile Product Management at Samsung Electronics America, said Samsung Wallet is trusted by millions of users. He added that the company is constantly improving it with new features.

Samsung Wallet has supported payments, digital IDs, and peer-to-peer transfers since 2022. With the new partnership, Galaxy users can manage, buy, and sell crypto right in the app. By linking Samsung Pay to exchange accounts, users can pay with digital assets, making the wallet a bridge between crypto and traditional finance.

Coinbase CEO Highlights Easy Crypto Access for Galaxy Users

Coinbase CEO Brian Armstrong said they are excited to work with Samsung to make crypto easier to access. He added that over 75 million Galaxy users will get free access to Coinbase One to start using crypto. Coinbase has also added Samsung Pay, so all U.S. users can use it to buy crypto directly.

This announcement builds on an earlier partnership Samsung and Coinbase revealed in July, when Coinbase added Samsung Pay as a payment option in its app for North American users. The collaboration has now expanded, with Samsung integrating Coinbase’s services directly into its platform. This move comes as more companies look for ways to give users access to crypto. Earlier this year, JPMorgan also partnered with Coinbase to provide crypto services to its clients.
