Hyperliquid Launches HYPE Token Staking for Network Security and Rewards

Hyperliquid has launched staking for the HYPE token. This feature enables the holder to stake tokens and get rewarded by the validators. It also reinforces network security through decentralization. According to the Hyperliquid Foundation, users staked over 300 million HYPE tokens at launch. These tokens are valued at about $8.4 billion.

The Foundation announced this on X, stating that staking is crucial for the network. It educated users on the importance of assessing validator metrics in a bid to delegate their tokens. Uptime, reputation, commission rates, and contributions to the community are some of the core measures. 

Eight Billion Staked in HYPE

Users can lock their tokens and submit them to a trusted validator through the staking process. These tokens are used by validators to create a new block for the network. It is only validators who participate in consensus who are entitled to rewards. This means that validator selection becomes fundamental for the user who wants to achieve the best possible result. 

Hyperliquid also shared that during the first hour of activation, people staked 7 million HYPE tokens. The platform divided these tokens among 16 validators. The staked tokens’ total value heavily increased to over $8 billion. The system also supports locked tokens. However, users cannot access their rewards until the lockup period ends.

This mechanism helps build participation continuity and loyalty to the network. It also balances the mechanism of sharing rewards between the validators and token holders. 

Delegation Program Enhances Structure

The Hyperliquid Foundation launched a Delegation Program to enhance decentralization. This initiative seeks to incentivize the validators to perform optimally in the operation of the network. Some of the requirements for validators include reliability, constant engagement, and contribution to the ecosystem. 

However, certain program features remain private. The Foundation highlighted its orientation to productivity increase. This move is in line with protecting the network and preserving operations. It also aligns the validators’ promotion of the network to perform better and engage more with the community. 

Validators play a crucial role in the staking process. They ensure network stability and propose blocks based on their delegated tokens. The Foundation stressed that users must select validators carefully to ensure successful staking outcomes. 

HYPE Token Sees Market Growth

The HYPE token launched on November 29 at an initial price of $3.50. Since its debut, the token has surged by over 890%, reaching an all-time high of $34.96. Currently, the token trades at $27.43, reflecting a slight 1.40% increase in the last 24 hours. 

HYPE’s market capitalization has climbed to $9 billion, placing it among the top 20 cryptocurrencies. It now surpasses established tokens like Uniswap, Litecoin, and PEPE. This growth has been attributed to strong ecosystem adoption and increasing staking participation. 

Hyperliquid’s ecosystem has also shown impressive metrics. Data from DefiLlama indicates the platform generates over $1 million in daily revenue. 

Additionally, the HYPE token’s open interest has increased significantly. This reflects growing participation in the derivatives market. The token has also been added to Grayscale Research’s Top 20 diversified crypto assets list.
