The license was given under strict regulatory frameworks that require compliance with Anti Money Laundering and Countering the Financing of Terrorism measures. The approval allows HashKey Europe to provide a range of crypto related services. This is the first VASP license in full compliance with the EU’s Fifth Anti-Money Laundering Directive for the company.
License Enables Expanded Services
The license allows HashKey to provide fiat-to-crypto and crypto-to-crypto exchange services, digital asset custody services, and the transfer of virtual assets on behalf of clients. This will allow HashKey to run fully within the confines of the Irish market.
The Central Bank of Ireland requires all crypto service providers to register with the regulator. Crypto providers must also meet high standards for operational resilience and security.
Ireland as a Hub for Crypto Regulation
Cryptocurrency service providers have made Ireland an important hub. On December 30, the Markets in Crypto Assets Regulation introduced mandatory licensing. All providers must register within three months in order to continue operating legally.
Firms operating under the old rules can continue for up to 12 months. However, they must obtain the updated authorization to avoid operational suspension. MiCA rules will strengthen oversight and ensure consistency in the European Union. Major global crypto firms have made Ireland a strategic location. The country has already welcomed companies such as Ripple and Coinbase. This trend is driven by a favorable regulatory environment.
Strategic Growth in Global Markets
HashKey has also obtained licenses for other regions, including Hong Kong, Singapore, Japan, and Bermuda. The approval in Ireland strengthens its position in the European market. In August, HashKey received a Major Payment Institution license from Singapore’s regulatory authority
The company recently launched its utility token HSK to support its global ecosystem. The token plays a key role in its services, such as licensed exchanges and tokenization. HashKey aims to develop a compliant and innovative Web3 ecosystem worldwide.

Ireland is a critical part of its international growth strategy. The company views the country as an important market for cryptocurrency and blockchain services. Other crypto firms such as Coinbase have also chosen Ireland for their European operations. Coinbase has been operating in Dublin for over five years and has a workforce of over 100 professionals operating in the office. Crypto.com also received VASP approval from the Central Bank of Ireland in June last year.
HashKey Chain also launched its Ethereum layer-2 mainnet on December 18. The launch followed a testnet phase with 860,000 wallets and 300,000 participants. Laboratory testing showed 400 transactions per second and gas fees as low as 0.1 gwei. During testing, 50 projects were successfully deployed on the blockchain.
