Highlights:
- FIFA selects Avalanche to power its custom L1 blockchain for scalable digital collectibles.
- Migration of FIFA Collect to Avalanche ensures sub-second finality and minimal fees.
- Avalanche’s interoperability and security support FIFA’s future Web3 gaming and fan engagement.
FIFA has revealed it will launch a new blockchain system powered by the Avalanche network. The global football body is setting up a Layer-1 network specifically to offer its digital products and collectibles to fans. The first initiative being migrated is FIFA Collect, the federation’s NFT marketplace. With Avalanche, FIFA’s latest solution shifts its approach to delivering swift and widespread Web3 options.

By using Avalanche, FIFA will move from fragmented systems to having only a single blockchain. This network will run under full governance and still function within the Ethereum Virtual Machine (EVM). As a result, users can connect using MetaMask and other wallets supported by WalletConnect.
Previous wallets based on Algorand, Pera and Defly are no longer supported in the new system. Being able to process more than 6,500 transactions per second, Avalanche guarantees its high performance. Moreover, the network provides low transaction fees, sub-second verification and smooth scaling at peak times for football events.
Migration of FIFA Collect Begins on Avalanche Network
FIFA Collect is already moving its operations onto the Avalanche blockchain. By using this architecture, assets will be able to interact with other platforms and wallets. This is the beginning of FIFA’s broader plan for Web3 technology. Avalanche’s strong framework should be able to support the traffic from fans during major events and sales of NFTs.

The decision is part of FIFA’s ongoing drive to experiment in digital spaces, starting with NFT releases during the 2022 World Cup. This move from Algorand to Avalanche is meant to combine blockchain operations. In addition, the future of FIFA’s Web3 sites and NFT features will be based on the new L1 for scalability.
Aside from Avalanche’s technical qualities, this move will help build future products. While FIFA hasn’t made public the detailed roadmap, officials affirmed that additional applications are still under review. Further announcements might introduce new interactive systems or special services for fans using the Avalanche-powered blockchain.
Avalanche Enables FIFA’s Long-Term Web3 Vision
The Avalanche blockchain supports the development of app-specific chains by businesses while keeping them connected to the wider ecosystem. The decision by FIFA reinforces the platform as the best choice for enterprise teams needing advanced blockchain infrastructure.
Avalanche allows FIFA, among other legacy systems, to overcome difficulties with speed and capacity that are common in public blockchains. Moreover, the move to Avalanche implies a bigger importance is given to performance and user comfort.
This launch takes place after recent upgrades to Avalanche that made it easier for developers to build custom blockchains. FIFA has become one of the biggest organizations using the model. The only active integration right now is the move of FIFA Collect. Yet, the organization states a number of business cases have not been disclosed. Over time, blockchain may find use outside of NFTs in the whole sports entertainment industry.
Additionally, FIFA’s existing Web3 footprint includes the mobile football game FIFA Rivals. It was launched in late 2024, demonstrating another aspect of the group’s digital growth plans. As the infrastructure for Avalanche is now operational, there will be greater real-time digital activity. FIFA partnering with Avalanche means it’s one of the world’s first sports organizations using a dedicated blockchain. This setup makes hosting large-scale fan platforms reliable, quick and less expensive.
