  • Trump in discussions to speak at Bitcoin 2024 convention in Nashville in July.
  • The event will feature other political figures like Robert F. Kennedy Jr. and Vivek Ramaswamy.
  • Trump’s involvement underscores his increasing support for cryptocurrency and critique of Biden’s crypto policies.

Former President Donald Trump is in discussions to speak at Bitcoin 2024 convention in Nashville, Tennessee, scheduled for July 25-27. According to a recent Axios report, Trump is in talks to attend the event, one of the largest gatherings in the cryptocurrency space. The convention will host several prominent speakers, including political and industry figures.

Bitcoin Magazine has not confirmed Trump’s attendance, but sources familiar with the matter disclosed ongoing discussions. Trump’s potential participation highlights his growing support for cryptocurrency, contrasting with President Joe Biden’s approach to crypto regulation.

Growing Political Interest in Crypto

Trump’s interest in the Bitcoin 2024 event aligns with his recent public support for Bitcoin. At a fundraising event in San Francisco, co-hosted by Craft Ventures’ David Sacks and tech billionaire Chamath Palihapitiya, Trump expressed his commitment to championing the cryptocurrency industry. He criticized the Democratic Party’s inclination toward stringent regulations, emphasizing his readiness to advocate for the industry’s advancement.

If Trump attends, it could signal his campaign’s effort to gain support from the crypto community ahead of the upcoming elections. His stance on Bitcoin and other cryptocurrencies has become increasingly favorable, reflecting a shift from his previous skepticism.

Political Figures at Bitcoin 2024

The Bitcoin 2024 convention will also feature other notable political figures. Presidential candidate Robert F. Kennedy Jr., former candidate Vivek Ramaswamy, and Republican Senators Bill Hagerty and Marsha Blackburn are among the confirmed speakers. This diverse lineup underscores the growing intersection between cryptocurrency and politics.

Brian Hughes, a senior advisor to Trump, stated that the cryptocurrency industry is “under attack.” He criticized the current administration for stifling innovation with more regulations and higher taxes. Hughes suggested that Trump is ready to promote American leadership in emerging technologies, including Bitcoin.

Trump’s Support for Crypto

In recent months, Trump has become a vocal advocate for cryptocurrency. He has shown support for Bitcoin mining and expressed willingness to accept political donations in cryptocurrency. Trump’s critical stance on President Biden’s policies towards the crypto industry is a key aspect of his broader campaign narrative.

Contrastingly, President Biden’s re-election campaign has been engaging with crypto industry members for advice on digital asset policies. Recently, White House decided to reinstall cybersecurity expert Carole House, signaling the Biden Administration’s renewed interest in crypto policy.

This marks a notable shift from the administration’s previously less favorable stance on cryptocurrency. Both Trump and Biden are expected to address their positions on crypto in the upcoming presidential debate on CNN.
