Naver, a technological powerhouse domiciled in South Korea, is on the verge of launching its first-ever crypto wallet, Naver Pay Wallet. Interestingly, the South Korean tech firm will collaborate with Chiliz to release the crypto wallet for South Korean users. With the integration, Naver has delved into the Web3 space, which invariably implies expanding its products and service delivery.
Breaking the integration news on its verified X handle, the blockchain outlet wrote:
“This collaboration marks the launch of NAVER Pay Wallet, NAVER Pay’s first Digital Assets Wallet for the 33 million+ Korean market users with Chiliz Chain as its inaugural blockchain.”
For context, Naver Pay is Naver’s second mobile app. It emerged after Line Pay with support from banks, credit card platforms, and over 50,000 member stores. Naver Pay allows users to access seamless online payments. The proposed integration with Chiliz means Naver Pay users will control their digital assets via unique private keys.
On the other hand, Chiliz is a sports-based blockchain platform powering the Socios.com platform. Users on the blockchain platform obtain fan tokens, which they use to participate in their favorite club’s decision-making processes.
33 Million Naver Users will Benefit from the Partnership
Over its years of proffering several payment services, Naver has attracted a significant user base, estimated to be over 33 million. Hence, it becomes safe to assert that Naver Pay Wallet, in its beta testing phase, will anticipate a similar user base after launching.
Speaking on the development, Alexandre Dreyfus, the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) at Chiliz, noted that tech-savvy South Koreans will also contribute to the user base. The exposure will help them access blockchain advancements, especially in sports and entertainment.
The wallet will allow over 30 million users to access digital asset control and include NFT storage options. Like Chiliz, the Naver Pay Wallet will integrate functionalities like fan tokens, merchant loyalty programs, and decentralized apps. This approach is similar to the Naver Pay app’s conventional payment system, which has over 97,000 users.
Chiliz Plans to Celebrate the Collaboration
In its post on X, Chiliz announced that it intends to mark its latest partnership with the tech giant with exciting rewards for users. According to the tweet, fresh wallets on the platform will receive Chiliz chain’s minted commemorative NFTs. In addition, the blockchain company will roll out a unique launch event on August 30.
The program will offer selected South Korean customers opportunities to win exciting prizes like a European football tour, VIP tickets, and NFTs. In addition, lucky candidates will stand a chance to grasp a luxurious European travel package to watch top football club matches.
