Ethereum Accumulation Signal Hits 3-Year High as Price Climbs Above $2,700

Highlights:

  • Ethereum withdrawal transactions on Binance hit a three-year high as investors move more ETH into private wallets.
  • ETH has gained over 75% in three months, while stronger accumulation supports its recent market recovery.
  • Bitcoin also climbed above $85,000 as improving momentum and technical signals supported the broader crypto rally.

Ethereum is showing a strong accumulation trend on Binance as ETH price continues to recover. The number of Ethereum withdrawal transactions from Binance has reached its highest monthly average in about three years. CryptoQuant analyst Darkfost said in a September 21 post on X that the monthly average of ETH withdrawal transactions on Binance has moved above 90,000. The level was last seen in 2023 and is about twice as high as it was at the start of the year.

The rise in withdrawals suggests that more investors may be buying ETH and moving it away from Binance.

Darkfost said:

“When ETH leaves a platform like Binance in this way, it suggests that many investors bought and then withdrew their ETH to move it into private custody solutions.”

Investors often move crypto from exchanges to private wallets when they plan to hold it for longer. However, exchange withdrawals can also happen for other reasons.

Ethereum Gains More Than 75% in Three Months

The rise in withdrawals has come as Ethereum records a strong price recovery. According to Darkfost, ETH has climbed from around $1,510 to more than $2,650 in about three months. That represents a gain of more than 75%. Ethereum also moved above its April high. Darkfost said ETH has shown stronger recent momentum than Bitcoin, which had struggled to stay above its May high.

ETH later traded around $2,700 on September 21. The cryptocurrency was also up around 5% over the previous 24 hours. Despite the recent recovery, Ethereum remains well below its all-time high. ETH reached a record level near $4,946 in August 2025. At around $2,700, Ethereum remains roughly 45% below that peak.

Darkfost believes the higher Binance withdrawals support the idea that investors are building Ethereum positions for the medium to long term.

Bitcoin Price Moves Above $85,000

Bitcoin also moved higher as the wider crypto market gained strength. BTC briefly climbed above $85,000 on September 21, reaching its highest level in about eight months. At the time of writing, BTC was trading at $84,145, up around 5% over 24 hours during the rally.

The move also came with an important technical change. Galaxy Digital Head of Firmwide Research Alex Thorn said Bitcoin closed a week above its 50-week moving average for the first time in 45 weeks.

Thorn said:

“Regaining the 50w MA has historically served as strong confirmation that bear market lows are ‘in’.”

He also noted that Bitcoin had gained 29% in 35 days. The 50-week moving average tracks Bitcoin’s average price over roughly one year and is often used to follow its longer-term trend.

Bitcoin’s latest rise has also come alongside stronger demand across the crypto market and renewed buying interest as prices recover. However, it remains below its all-time high near $126,198, reached in October 2025. At around $85,000, BTC is still about 33% below that record.
