He also used informal crypto wallets for the management of the illicit funds from the investors.

Court Orders Seizure of Assets
The court ordered the seizure of R$36 million related to the operations of the crime. The authorities may redirect these funds to compensate the victims. However, lawyers cautioned that if civil actions do not occur, the state might end up taking the funds. The judge also defined a minimum amount of R$36.5 to support the recovery of investors.
The sentencing consisted of fines of thousands of days of the minimum wage. The court will sentence three of the detainees to spend their term in a closed prison setting, and the ruling will suspend their political rights. Authorities will execute the arrest warrants after the final judgment. Authorities also froze assets worth up to R$36.59 million.
Braiscompany Crypto Scam Hits 20000 Investors
The fraud scheme by the Braiscompany targeted approximately 20,000 investors in the country. Authorities identified that the operation carried out fraud of more than R$1.1 billion by exploiting vulnerable people through false promises. High profits from cryptocurrency trading were considered the main way of luring investors.
In reality, the business operated as a pyramid scheme camouflaged as a real, legitimate organization. The activities mimicked legal platforms but aimed to defraud and enrich certain individuals. The prosecutors pointed out that Braiscompany acted as a parallel financial system based on the informal transfers and high-commission operations.
Furthermore, the investigators were able to establish eleven separate money laundering acts which were related to the Braiscompany structure. These included intermediaries, cash handling and irregular crypto transactions. The company used the services of third-party wallets as a way of making it hard to trace the money.
Two Suspects Acquitted Due to Lack of Evidence
Among the five individuals originally charged, the court set two free. The court did not find compelling evidence that could link them to Braiscompany’s financial offences. The remaining defendants received convictions for managing, laundering, and concealing the proceeds of unlawful activities.
The trial concluded with one of the harshest collective sentences in Brazil’s financial history. Authorities emphasized the structure’s sophistication and the extent of the damage caused. The legal process now shifts to civil claims as victims seek financial recovery.
