Highlights:
- Bitwise says it has teamed up with Superstate to explore options for tokenized ETF shares on BSOL.
- The partnership aims to bring share ownership to the blockchain, while maintaining existing shareholder rights.
- Bitwise noted that the tokenized share option is not yet available on BSOL, as the release date remains unknown.
Digital asset management firm Bitwise has partnered with financial technology company Superstate to launch a new system that could allow investors to hold shares of Bitwise funds in tokenized forms. The partnership announced on Thursday is focused on bringing fund share ownership to the blockchain without changing the underlying shares or the rights attached to them.
The first Bitwise product that will offer this option is the Bitwise Solana Staking ETF (BSOL). Under the proposed system, investors would still buy shares of a Bitwise fund with the same shareholder rights as existing shares. However, the main difference would be how these shares are recorded.
Currently, Bitwise records fund shares electronically via the Depository Trust Company (DTC). The new option allows investors to choose to have their shares recorded on a blockchain using Superstate’s transfer agency system. Bitwise confirmed that the two forms of ownership would provide the same shareholder rights. This means that investors will not be getting a different type of fund share because they chose the tokenized option.

Bitwise Highlights Key Details of its Proposed Tokenized Shares
According to the digital asset management company, there will be limits on how investors can move the tokenized shares. Shareholders will not be allowed to transfer shares outside the recordkeeping system. Bitwise noted that the share option is not yet available on BSOL, as its release will depend on meeting all legal and regulatory requirements. This means there is no guarantee that BSOL will offer the tokenized shares at a specific date.
The digital asset investment firm stated:
“There can be no assurance as to whether or when a tokenized share option will become available for BSOL or any other Bitwise fund.”
A Brief Overview of BSOL’s Market Performance
BSOL is one of the nine Solana ETFs. It gives investors exposure to Solana without holding SOL directly. The fund carries high risk, as market declines could result in significant losses for investors. BSOL is not a traditional ETF under the US Investment Company Act of 1940. This means the fund does not offer the same investor protections as many stock or bond ETFs.
Strong Solana performance does not guarantee significant ETF returns, as the fund’s structure and costs can affect performance. Liquidity could also pose significant challenges during market declines. If trading activity drops, investors may find it difficult to buy or sell shares at their preferred price.
On August 13, all nine Solana ETFs saw neither inflows nor outflows, extending their zero-inflows streak to the second consecutive day. However, BSOL remains the most valuable ETF, with $900.2 million in cumulative net inflows and a net asset valuation of $622.68 million. Fidelity Solana ETF (FSOL), the second most valuable Solana ETF, has a cumulative net inflow of about $194.76 million and a net asset value of $129.34 million.
