- The approval strengthens Revolut’s role as a major player in regulated digital finance.
The global fintech company Revolut has secured a Markets in Crypto Assets (MiCA) license from the Cyprus Securities and Exchange Commission (CySEC). The license will enable the company to offer regulated crypto services within the European Economic Area. It also supports Revolut’s strategy of enhancing its compliance-based digital finance presence in Europe.
The authorization follows the implementation of MiCA regulations by European regulators. The new standards create more transparency and protection of consumers in the crypto sector. The CySEC license places Revolut as one of the first major fintechs to fulfill the new framework. This milestone provides the company with the potential to scale its crypto business across all 30 EEA markets.
Costas Michael, CEO of Revolut Digital Asset Europe, stated that the approval demonstrates the trust of the regulator in the compliance operations of Revolut. He said that the MiCA license will assist the company in gaining credibility as it develops innovative crypto products.
Revolut just got its EU wide crypto licence under MiCA.
They’re set to roll out zero fee staking across select tokens.
The MiCA licence means they can now offer regulated services across all 30 EEA markets, a first for a fintech of its scale.

Expanding Crypto Access Across Europe
The company intends to make Cyprus its European crypto hub. The license enables Revolut to roll out its new Crypto 2.0 platform to its users in the region. The platform includes over 280 tokens, zero-fee staking, and the highest returns of 22% APY. It also allows 1:1 conversion of the stablecoins to USD with no spreads, which provides a smooth transition between the digital and traditional currencies.
Revolut entered the crypto trading business in 2017 and has since emerged as one of the most dynamic fintechs in Europe. Its ecosystem has also expanded into Revolut X, a professional-level exchange that was initially launched in the UK and later extended to all the EEA markets. The exchange has attracted millions of users with mobile access available on both iOS and Android.
The firm incorporates Visa and Mastercard cards with crypto-enabling features, and this makes on and off-ramping experiences seamless. Trading fees range between 0.00% and 0.09%, which makes it one of the cost-effective platforms to trade among European users. MetaMask and Ledger are also connected to Revolut as part of the Revolut Ramp feature, enabling direct purchases of crypto from user wallets.
According to Crypto and New Bets Director at Revolut, Emil Urmanshin, the MiCA license represents more than compliance. He stated that it would allow the company to establish better bridges between fiat and crypto systems, the foundation of trust and innovation in digital banking.
Global Growth and Future Outlook
The MiCA license is another step in Revolut’s international expansion. The banking regulator in Mexico granted Revolut the authority to conduct operations as a complete digital bank this month. This makes it the first independent neobank to undergo the licensing procedure in the country.

In Europe, the company intends to spend more than $1 billion in France and seek a local banking license. In Colombia and Argentina, similar initiatives are being implemented to supplement efforts introduced in Brazil. With sustained market expansion and innovation, Revolut aims to target 100 million customers by mid-2027. Moreover, Revolut is considering dual listing on the London Stock Exchange and the New York Stock Exchange to expand its global presence.
