Grayscale announced on Monday that it enabled staking for its Ethereum and Solana exchange-traded products (ETPs). The update affects the Grayscale Ethereum Trust ETF (ETHE), Ethereum Mini Trust ETF, and Grayscale Solana Trust (GSOL).
Today, Grayscale Ethereum Mini Trust ETF (Ticker: $ETH) and Grayscale Ethereum Trust ETF (Ticker: $ETHE) have become the first U.S.-listed spot crypto exchange-traded products (ETP) to enable staking, another first-mover milestone for the firm.

Staking allows investors to earn rewards from blockchain networks without directly managing digital assets. The company highlighted that this is the first time U.S.-listed spot crypto ETPs include staking. Grayscale CEO Peter Mintzberg said, “Staking in our spot Ethereum and Solana funds is exactly the kind of first mover innovation Grayscale was built to deliver.”
ETHE and ETH follow the legal framework used for approved spot Bitcoin and Ethereum ETFs. They remain registered under the Securities Act of 1933, not the Investment Company Act of 1940, which governs traditional mutual funds. Regardless of this distinction, the funds allow investors access to digital assets with the ability to stake.
The introduction of staking demonstrates the interest of Grayscale in innovation and investor value. It also reinforces the company as a top-ranking digital asset-based investing platform. This action shows that staking is capable of becoming a structured and compliant integration with regulated investment vehicles.
Grayscale Integrates Staking to Offer Passive Income and Network Exposure
Grayscale incorporates staking to provide investors with passive earnings without affecting fund goals. The firm will collateralize via institutional custodians and a system of validator suppliers. This strategy keeps both the Ethereum and Solana networks safe and functional.
ETHE and the Ethereum Mini Trust jointly control over $8 billion in assets, and GSOL contains $122.5 million. Grayscale alone has invested more than 40,000 ETH in ETHE alone, and its annual returns are projected to be approximately 2.06%. Staking also allows investors to get rewarded as the network is growing, and it adds extra value to their investments.
Grayscale is waiting to have GSOL uplisted as an ETP by regulators. In case of approval, GSOL will be among the first listed Solana products to provide staking. In particular, institutional investors who want to pursue yield opportunities without handling crypto directly could be interested in the integration.
The relocation likewise offers a systematic approach to CRM payment and demonstrates how staking can be incorporated into conventional investment products. Grayscale seeks to accommodate the production of yields with fund targets and accessibility by investors. Meanwhile, other companies are launching staking opportunities in the market. REX-Osprey ETF Staking ETF went live last month. The Ethereum staking ETF offers investors direct exposure to Ethereum with a monthly distribution of staking rewards.

Market Outlook and Institutional Interest
Analysts believe that the staking integration at Grayscale would lead to institutional involvement. Staking rewards are now available to investors with exposure to major digital assets. The update can also enhance the secondary market, such as liquidity provision and derivative strategies.
The Grayscale strategy can encourage other fund managers to introduce staking to regulated investment products. The company also has a benchmark on transparency through the clear reporting of staked assets to the investors. Meanwhile, collaboration with staking service providers can be widened, contributing to the broader growth of the ecosystem.
According to industry observers, staking ETFs offer institutions safer entry points into proof-of-stake blockchains. The model may be expanded to other leading cryptocurrencies, providing more opportunities to generate yield. The action of Grayscale demonstrates the increasing involvement of blockchain in regulated investment vehicles.
